Students across the UK are heading back to University this week, eager to further their studies, but probably just as eager to be returning to their friends, halls or adopted towns, and social clubs – like their University Sailing or Watersports Club!

Often one of the oldest clubs in the University, the sailing club offers students the chance to get out on the water and get a taste for the excitement and opportunity that only being on a boat can bring – as well as learning all sorts of key skills and disciplines.

Sailing is a pursuit that’s difficult to do on your own, or to learn from a book, so University Sailing clubs are often the first chance that people get to grips with a boat. Until they arrive at University they might have dabbled in a kayak or on a home-made raft, but afterwards, they build the confidence to take to the high seas and harness the power of the wind.

It’s an important part of getting people on the water in the UK, which is why we’re proud of our annual programme to support and sponsor a University Sailing Club.

We’re now accepting entries for our 2019/20 sponsorship - get in touch if we haven't received an email from us already, as you need to register your interest by the end of this month! After shortlisting of the best entries, a public vote and judging by an esteemed judging panel, we hope to announce the winners on the 31st October 2019!
