Sailing with the Cruising Association is Plain Sailing

If you were at Southampton boat show, then you’ll likely already be aware of our amazing new partnership with the incredible Cruising Association!

Sailing with the Cruising Association is Plain Sailing

Established in the 1880’s, the Cruising Association is the UK’s (and indeed, the worlds!) biggest membership organisation of sailors, offering advice, support and ideas to over 5,000 paying members!

It seems unthinkable nowadays with the unlimited information that we have available at our fingertips, but pre-internet, the Cruising Association was one of the most valuable and reliable sources of information about cruising areas, boats and sailing plans.  Indeed, it was the Cruising Association who officially announced that UK waters were open to Sailors again after the second world war (and that there weren’t any mines to be wary of!)

This winter, the Cruising Association are running a competition which will see the winner taking home a prize worth over £2,000 – namely, a week-long yacht charter in glorious Scotland, sailing from Largs (provided by PlainSailing.com in conjunction with a local yacht charter operator!), and including free berthing and a voucher for a local restaurant in Tarbert, a free tour of the Isle of Arran Distillery and visitor centre, and free berthing and a free spa experience at Portavadie – all in all an excellent prize in an outstanding cruising area!  It really is an amazing prize!

For your chance of winning, you have to be a Cruising Association member (you still have time to join them and to enter!) and you need to attend one of their boat shows.  Aside from that, you’ll need lady luck on your side, as we’re expecting over 1,500 entrants!

CA members: Watch out for us in the next few magazines! :)
