Ever wanted to know the distance in nautical miles between two islands? Or how far away you can get from your home marina in a week?

Whilst the internet has a few possible answers to the problem if you’re lucky, it almost certainly means looking up reference tables to see distances between the nearest two big ports. Inevitably, eventually you just give up trying to find out the answer online, and get out a chart and a pair of compasses – often having to wait until the first night of your holiday before you start calculating distances and planning a route.

But now there is another solution: our tech team have devised an amazing map which plots nautical miles between two points, or even along a whole route. Within a few clicks you can work out whether you can get to that ancient Greek monument, that amazing taverna, or even that volcano in a week of sailing!

Truth be told, in a digital world, it’s a wonder that the old-fashioned routines of charts and compasses are still being used, but we’re proud of our tech team for the work that they’ve put in to making your lives – as our customers – easier. It’s been a three-month project which has been the baby of our Chief Technician (since he miscalculated the distance between Corfu and Lefkas on a recent trip…!), and it’s great to see it come to fruition.
