Where to charter from: Biograd

One of the most popular places to charter a yacht or catamaran from is Biograd

Not only because it’s situated almost perfectly between Split and Zadar (and is exceptionally easy to get to), but also because it’s close to the Kornati Islands – which was the first marine National Park in the Med!

Most of the 140 islands in the park are completely uninhabited, and the ideal place for marine plants and wildlife to flourish – making for an exotic place to drop the anchor and to dig out the snorkel.  Throw in unblemished sands, and the whole area is idyllic, and as far away from modern civilisation as it gets: if you want to get out there, you have to have your own boat!

Biograd town itself is good for a day or two of exploring (But Zadar is only a short taxi ride away if you’re stuck on land, and that is a historic city well worth visiting), and there’s a decent selection of bars, and shops which will sell you everything you need - but it’s the massive marina and hundreds of yachts of all different shapes and sizes that will get a sailor’s heart throbbing!  It’s breath-taking at sunset, when the masts are silhouetted against a sky full of pinks and oranges.

Of course, Biograd is also the closest marina to the famous ‘island most shaped like a heart’ in the world (Galesnjak) and what could be more romantic than sailing once around that with your crew?!
