Charter your own private yacht or catamaran to explore the stunning islands in the Ionian Sea from Corfu!

This itinerary is one of seven sailing itineraries, exclusively offered by PlainSailing.com, with the package including your own private yacht or catamaran, a skipper to steer the boat, a hostess to take care of cooking and cleaning, fuel, mooring fees in a marina each night, bed linen & towels, end cleaning, VIP early check-in & transfers to and from the Marina.
Our must-see highlights include:
Petriti - An unexpected traditional fishing village on the east coast of Corfu. It’s hidden away from the main tourist resorts either side by thick, lush forest, and becomes a hive of activity when the local start to take to their fishing boats in the early evening. A restful place to spend the night.
Paxos / Antipaxos - Two of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean, if not the world. Situated in the middle of the Ionian seas, they offer incredible scenery of spectacular cliffs, stunning white beaches, warm crystal clear waters thriving with wildlife, all complemented by very cute and welcoming villages.
Parga - a picture postcard village on the Greek mainland which features a colourful array of houses built up around the village’s natural harbour. This place is also popular with land-lubbing tourists who come here for the beaches, beautiful scenery and relaxing pace of life.

your itinerary
We've spent years honing the perfect itinerary for a week of fantastic sailing - taking in all the must-see attractions, and mixing it with a few trips off the beaten-track.

Saturday - Getting on board
On arrival at the airport, we’ll take you by private transfer to the marina in Corfu. With our VIP check-in service, you’ll be on the boat before 2pm, giving plenty of time to get used to life on board a boat, meeting your crew (including having a safety briefing), and enjoying the sunshine. The marina also has a swimming pool, and the local town of Gouvia is only a short walk away.

Sunday - Sailing to Sagiada
After a night on board to get your sea-legs, it’s time to get out to sea! After sailing past Corfu old town, the first destination is Sagiada on the mainland, 10km from the Albanian border. Sagiada is a quiet hillside fishing village, and the local taverna Alekos claims to have the tastiest (and freshest) prawns in the Med!

Monday - Sailing to Mourtos
It’s only a short second day of sailing (which is lucky, as there are a number of beaches and bays on the way to explore) following the mainland down to Mourtos - this bay is named after the massacre of Turkish barbarians in 680 BC, but is now best known for being one of the most beautiful (and most instagrammed) places to watch the sunset. Grab a cocktail and enjoy as the sky turns orange!

Tuesday - Sailing to Parga
Day three sees you heading to the beautiful Parga. This is a real gem of a village, with colourful buildings up the surrounding hillside, and narrow cobbled streets around the marina, which is in the centre of the village. It looks it’s been photo-shopped, but we can promise you, it’s real!

Wednesday - Sailing to Gaios
The most picturesque place in the whole of the Ionian are the incredible Paxi islands of Paxos and Antipaxos. Antipaxos has irresistible beaches and unspoilt landscapes, whereas Paxos is all Olive groves, vineyards and pretty villages. We’d recommend dropping the anchor at our favourite Voutomi beach on Antipaxos for lunch, before sailing north to the Venetian town of Gaios on Paxos.

Thursday - Sailing to Petriti
You’ll be able to spend more time in the Paxi islands because it’s only a short sail to the similarly delightful village of Petriti. Surrounded by forests, you’ll find the historic village both charming and tranquil, and it really comes to life when the many local fishermen are preparing their boats in the late afternoon, or returning home with fresh fish in the morning.

Friday - Sailing to Corfu
Sadly, it’s already time for the last sailing day of the holiday! You’ll pass some of the best beaches on the island (many of which are now holiday resorts) as you head northwards back to Gouvia marina. The bars around the marina are often lively on a Friday night (as people enjoy their last day at sea), or you can go and check out Corfu Old Town - the whole of the old town is now a huge UNESCO world heritage site.

Second Saturday - Disembarking
And then it’s time to say farewell to the boat, the skipper and the hostess. To enable the boat to be ready for the next guests, you’ll have to disembark at 9am on Saturday morning and get a private transfer back to the airport, or onwards to your next port of call. Travelling by car will feel pretty mundane, so you’ll likely already be thinking about planning your next sailing holiday…
