Split
Croatia

Charter your own private yacht or catamaran to explore the amazing Dalmatian coast from Split!
img
This itinerary is one of seven sailing itineraries, exclusively offered by PlainSailing.com, with the package including your own private yacht or catamaran, a skipper to steer the boat, a hostess to take care of cooking and cleaning, fuel, mooring fees in a marina each night, bed linen & towels, end cleaning, VIP early check-in & transfers to and from the Marina.

Our must-see highlights include
:

Hvar - offering picturesque narrow streets, fine dining restaurants, and a lively nightlife - but it’s the spectacular view from the medieval hilltop castle out over the islands, town and marina below that you will remember Hvar for..

Paklinski Otoci - a truly hidden gem in the Med, this bay is in the middle of nowhere and can only be reached by sailors with their own boat - and yet, it boasts seven different beach clubs and restaurants.  There’s a special atmosphere here, particularly at sunset, and there’s a section of the bay is roped off as a swimming area.

Bisevo Cave, Vis - The luminescent neon blue colour of the sparkling water inside Bisevo cave is due to a natural light phenomenon which has to be seen to be believed! It’s just off the coast of idyllic Vis, which is where they filmed Mamma Mia 2.

Saturday - Getting on board

Hope you’re ready for a week of sun, sea and sailing?  On arrival at the airport, we’ll take you by private transfer to our yacht marina in Split.  With our VIP check-in service, you should be on the boat before 2pm, which will give you plenty of time to get used to life on board a boat, to meet your skipper and hostess, to listen to a safety briefing, and, of course, relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Sunday - Sailing to Milna

After a night on board to get your sea-legs, it’s time to get out to sea!  You’ll sail almost due south towards the sunshine to arrive at the first destination of Milna on the island of Brac.  It was once a key strategic part of the Venetian empire, but nowadays it’s a small and charming fishing village, albeit with some impressive Venetian architecture (including a clock tower, which you will spot first).

Monday - Sailing to Paklinski Otoci

You’ll be weaving through the islands with the wind in your sails, on the way to the wonderful Paklinski Otoci (and the nearby marina of Palmezana), where, in the middle of the Adriatic sea, there’s a small bay with no less than seven beach bars and restaurants.  Only accessible by sea, this place has a special atmosphere, and is a great place to sit, watch the sun go down, and mingle with other sailors.

Tuesday - Sailing to Vis

You're heading to the beautiful island of Vis - made famous by the recent Mamma Mia 2 film.  Believe it or not, the British once occupied this island, and there is even a British cemetery on the island.  Today you’ll also sail to the natural phenomenon of the Bisevo blue cave, where you’ll be able to paddle or swim in spectacular crazy neon-blue water.
img

Wednesday - Sailing to Hvar

The most picturesque port of call is undoubtedly Hvar, with its narrow streets, hillside location, and the majestic medieval castle perched above the town.  It takes a little effort to hike up to the castle, but the magnificent views from the top are totally worth it, and it’s almost impossible to take a bad photograph.  Hvar is also increasingly known as being THE place to go for fine dining in Croatia.
img

Thursday - Sailing to Maslinica

On day five, you’ll sail northwards to delightful Maslinica.  Once a holiday home for aristocrats, the village recently won awards for being the best tourist spot in the Med with under 1,000 inhabitants - due mainly to its superb beaches, pine tree forests, and largely unspoilt natural beauty.  In Croatia, it’s also famous for having the tastiest honey, the fruitiest wine, and the best schnapps!
img

Friday - Sailing to Split

Sadly, it’s already the last sailing day of the holiday - where did the time go?!  It’s only a short sail back to Split, so you should be able to bimble around some of the islands or you could sail by the UNESCO world heritage island-town of Trogir before returning home.  The marina bars are usually buzzing with sailors on a Friday night, all keen to share tales of their adventures.
img

Second Saturday - Disembarking

And then it’s time to say farewell to the boat, the skipper and the hostess.  To enable the boat to be ready for the next guests, you’ll have to disembark at 9am on Saturday morning and get a private transfer to the airport if you’re returning home, or onwards to your next port of call.  Travelling by car will feel pretty mundane, so you’ll likely already be thinking about planning your next sailing holiday…
