New for 2019: Sailing in Montenegro!

We’re expanding our horizons beyond Croatia and Greece for the summer 2019 season, but still sticking at being experts in the Med: come sail with us in Montenegro!

After a monumental 2018 season, we’re super excited to announce that we’re expanding to three new Mediterranean countries for the 2019 season – Italy, France, and Montenegro – which gives you even more choice of amazing places to sail.

Italy has outstanding world-beating coastlines and volcanic islands, France is all about the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera (check out our base in Saint Tropez!), and Montenegro is a millionaire’s playground which is the fastest growing cruising ground in the world right now!

Italy and France will be online soon, but this blog celebrates the launch of our Montenegro operation, which is based in Kotor, and which is now LIVE for bookings in 2019! Woohoo!

Where is Montenegro?

Herceg Novi, MontenegroMontenegro is just south of Croatia, and has even more sunshine hours than their neighbours. Though it doesn’t have hundreds of islands, the Kotor bay is a 93km fjord surrounded by mountains which is genuinely a wonder to behold, and even better to sail in – this beauty is the reason why Montenegro is a hidden gem in the sailing world, and why it has been attracting superyachts and cruise-liners for the last few years.

Top class sailing facilities

Lustica Bay, MontenegroYou might expect that Montenegro has limited sailing infrastructure and sorry-looking old boats, but you couldn’t be further from the truth – there are not one, not two, but three massive new multi-billion pound marina developments (including a marina resort with its own golf course, multiple six-star hotels, and a world-record 250m berth for super-super yachts), and our trusted charter partner has a whole fleet of yachts which are all less than four years old!

Where to sail?

Bar, MontenegroIf you get bored of the mountains in the millionaire’s playground that is Kotor bay, then the Adriatic coastline also offers sublime sailing, with potential stops at classic Montenegrin tourist resorts with fantastic beaches (especially Petrovac, which is linked to the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica, by road), historic settlements and old towns (including the creepy abandoned city of Stari Bar, near Bar, in the South of the country), and places with more history than you can shake a stick at!

So what are you waiting for? Why not use our search tool to find Montenegrin yachts and catamarans for summer 2019 right now?!

We’re expanding to new and exciting places, but don’t worry - we’re not rushing in to anything: we’re still aiming to be experts in the Med, we’re still only working with companies we trust, and you’ll still get the unparalleled PlainSailing.com customer service regardless of whether your sailing from Kotor or Corfu!
